Position Summary
The Indiana University Jacobs School of Music seeks candidates for a faculty position as Curator of Organs and Carillons. This position is a twelve-month, tenure-ineligible, renewable position with an initial three-year appointment. The successful candidate will be an invaluable member of the organ department and will maintain the instruments that allow our students to hone their performance skills and draw international artists to campus for recitals, masterclasses, and lectures.

Responsibilities: maintain all Jacobs School of Music organs under the direction of the chair of the organ department; liaise between the organ department, piano staff, and university committees and entities in regard to scheduling; maintain the Jacobs School practice carillon and the Indiana University Arthur Metz Bicentennial Grand Carillon; supervise student assistants relative to organ and carillon maintenance; and tune and maintain JSoM portative organs. Occasional teaching of a course in organ construction and design.

Basic Qualifications
Thorough and practical working knowledge of both mechanical and electro‐pneumatic control actions. Demonstrated fluency with tuning in both historic and modern temperaments, and a significant background in the building/maintenance of mechanical action organs inspired by historic models. Undergraduate degree or tested experience required; master’s degree preferred. Comparable professional experience may be accepted in lieu of earned master’s degree.
