John worked for Bozeman-Gibson & Co. (summers 1975 and 1976), John Leek (Oberlin, OH, 1976-1984), Angerstein & Associates (1984-1987) before starting the Bishop Organ Company in Boston in 1987. He joined the Organ Clearing House in 2000 as executive director at the invitation of founder Alan Laufman, and later merged the BOC with OCH. WIth OCH, John has installed, relocated, renovated, restored dozens of organs, traveling as far as Antananarivo, Madagascar for an installation. John is author of "In the wind..." a monthly column published in THE DIAPASON since 2004. He and his wife, the literary agent Wendy Strothman live in the Berkshires in western Massachusetts and mid-coast Maine.
